Today in class we started to create our first asset for our 3D enviroment, I chose to make an old-fashioned styled lamp. I managed to model most of it but there's still some work to do as well as having to texture it. I made it out of 2 polygon cylinders, one for the body and the other for the dome part. for the body I added edge loops and used extrusions to create the shape of the lamp. Afterwards we had to stop and give feedback to other people's work, I gave feedback to someone who was making a bookshelf. This is the feedback I recieved for my lamp:
What went well: - Used extracting good to create depth in the object - Good use of curves to create the top - Good use of edges to make the outward design - Nice use of shape manipulation to make the cone shape
Even better if: - UV Map - Add something to connect the base and the top - Add additional small details to add more depth - Add a light bulb inside with a texture - Could add a socket and cord to add effect - Add a switch
So I will apply this feedback to my lamp.
